The streams are copied, not re-encoded, so it stays pixel-identical. ## FAQ ### What metadata do video files contain? Containers carry a descriptive metadata block separate from the picture and sound: title, artist or creator, album, genre, creation date, comments, description, and often embedded cover art. Editing software and cameras frequently add their own entries — the encoder name, the software version, a device model, or a project name. In MP4 and MOV these live in the udta and meta atoms, in MKV they are Tags, in MP3 they are ID3 tags, and in WAV they are the RIFF INFO chunk. This tool reads all of those. ### Does removing metadata reduce video quality? No. The tool rewrites only the container's metadata block and copies the existing audio and video streams across byte-for-byte — there is no decoding and no re-encoding step. The result is visually and audibly identical to your original, and the process takes seconds even on a large file because nothing has to be compressed again. ### Does this remove GPS location data from my video? It removes the container-level tags, which is where location is normally recorded in an MP4 or MOV — phones typically write it into the udta atom that this tool clears. Because the file is rebuilt from its streams rather than patched in place, tags that were present in the original are not carried over. If a location is critical to remove, check the output in a metadata viewer before you publish. ### Can I edit the title and artist instead of deleting everything? Yes. Choose Edit tags and the form is pre-filled with whatever the file already carries, so you can correct a title, set an artist or creator, add a date, or write a description. Only the fields shown in the form are written to the new file — anything else the original carried, including cover art and raw container tags, is dropped. ### Does it work on photos or remove C2PA content credentials? No. This tool handles video and audio containers only. It does not read image files, so it will not strip EXIF from a JPEG or PNG, and it is not designed to remove C2PA content credentials or any pixel-domain watermark burned into the picture itself. ### Is my file uploaded to a server?
